Editing tip- Synonyms!

In addition to some of the helpful editing tips previously posted, I have another trick I employ when revising a paper. Often, when we are writing a first (or even second) draft, we let the ideas emanate and try not to feel apprehensive about getting the wording perfect. What I will sometimes do, is create a list of great vocab words related to my topic that I want to coalesce into the paper. When I am in the editing stage, I will go through the paper and replace my “simple” words, with much more  sophisticated academic words. Sometimes, there are specific key words for a field or theory that are imperative to utilize in order to effectively create an analysis.
